Walter Sickert Is a German artist born in 1860. I chose to study one of his drawings called " Woman at a mirror: Quai Voltaire." He created this in 1906 and used white chalk, pen and ink.
This is one of my favorite drawings as it is highly detailed but not drawn in the traditional way there is a uniqueness about his drawing style. The mixture of media gives the drawing a nice texture. The whole background has a wooden texture and the figure is smoother. The contrast between the mirrored image and the actual figure shows the light in the room and it also helps in giving it its mirrored effect. The tone he uses in the reflection and the actual figure make it look so realistic however I think the lines he used for the tone on her leg change the realistic image. The dark outline also makes it more unrealistic however this is what makes his style unique.
