Observational Drawing: Van Gogh

Van Gogh is a well know artist from the Netherlands he was born in 1853. The piece above is " Fountain in garden in hospital of St Paul." He used a mixture of media for this drawing: black chalk, pen, reed pen and brown ink.
The different types of media were used to create different thicknesses of line and different tone and shading. For example the dark thick marks on the ground surrounding the fountain compared to the thin straight lines on the bricks of the wall are definitely different types of media.
I like this drawing there is allot to look at and take in with all the different intricate marks they almost look like patterns.
