Normally Rembrandt is known for his prints. However he has created a lovely drawing in brown wash. I like that this drawing is so simple and detailed at the same time. He has all the facial features and all the creases in the material yet it is just a simple line drawing. The different marks show he was considering the texture and the light of the scene he was studying. The lines look sketchy like he is testing the marks out before putting in darker lines. I like the simplicity and beauty of this drawing.
