location photography reports: Architectural Photographers

Architectural Photography
For Architectural photography I chose to look at Will Scott, Connie Zhou and Paolo Tangari. Their photographs are eye-catching, inspiring and display beauty.
Connie Zhou

This is work by Connie Zhou she is an architectural photographer. I find her work very beautiful and eye catching because of all the light and the reflection. There is repetition in her photographs. The common theme I see in these photographs is the windows/glass, the symmetry and the light reflection off of them.
The first image the colours contrast well together and make the building stand out. This image is intriguing because of the amount of lines the eye can follow and I also noticed the lines of the structures in the background match the lines of that in the foreground for example the legs of the bridge correspond with the 'm' shape on the front of the building. I also like the lighting in this image the lights leading up to the building also help lead the viewer’s eye to the building.
I like the reflections in the photo above as it shows the missing part of the photo that you can't see from the angle it was taken. The colours work well together making the photo bright and eye-catching. The image gives the sense that you are leaning over the barrier looking down to the bottom and the central panels of glass lead the eye down the image, which gives the sense of looking down.
Will Scot

 Coventry Cathedral.
Will Scott creates amazing and colourful architectural images. His images both have a theme the sun and the light, shadows and colours it creates.
The first image is of a city and the sun setting over it. I like the colours and the shadows in this image it makes the city seem calm and beautiful. The contrast between the sky and sea to the orange and yellow glow of the sun makes the colours seem brighter.
The image above is of the sun coming through a large stained glass window, which makes the colours shine through onto the floor. The tiles on the floor also correspond with the panes on the window. The image is split into three sections by the beams and the pattern in the tiles. Which makes you focus on the colours of the window. Although I do like this image I think it would have more of an impact if the camera was just focused on the window as the people and the chairs make the image too busy.

Paolo Tangari

Paolo Tangari’s images are eye-catching and beautiful. His images tend to be quite dark and from interesting points of view.
The image above is of a city at night I like all the lights from the city illuminating the buildings. I also like the way the city lights give the sky a glow. I like that the image is taken from outside the city like the fence is a barrier to it which makes it a more meaningful image as it gives the feeling of being outcast from the beautiful city. The balance between light and dark is perfect the lights aren’t too bright so they take over the image and it’s not too dark so you can see the entire image.
The first image is of a bridge, I like that it is in black and white it looks old and it also makes the bridge stand out. I like the angle of this photo, that it is taken from under the bridge as most people take a photo looking on to the bridge or along it. The structure underneath creates interesting shadows on the supports and the water.
Overall these images have been very interesting to look at and have made me consider light, background, colours and shadows in photographs.
