Damien Hirst - "The Immortal"

"The Immortal" by Damien Hirst, 1997-2005, 102.8"x 202.5"x 96" Glass, painted stainless steel, silicone, monofilament, shark and formaldehyde. This is a sculpture by the well know artist Damien Hirst, he is known for using dead and live animals in his work. This piece consists of a dead shark inspired by the movie "Jaws". He uses this piece to create fear and uncertainty in the viewers. Hirst wanted a large shark that would be capable of eating a human to scare people. The tank has a solution in it that hardens but is still clear to look like water. This is to make the shark look like it is in its natural habitat and bring a lifelike feel to the piece. I like this piece, the way that it looks real like the shark could get you. Paul Drury

Paul Drury is a British artist and printmaker. He was born on the 14th of October 1903 and died the 19th of May 1987. The print I have chosen to look at is called 'The Peraulitimate Swan Song ,' which was finished in 1979. The scene that is etched is very picturesque. The tone is very detailed and representational. I think Drury is very skilled in his work. And I like the intricate detail of the print. i also like the composition of the print and how the trees lead you through the print up the path.

Anna Delaney Anna Delany is a street photographer, in this image she takes what some people perceive as vandalism and makes it beautiful. This is an emotional image as she has taken a dramatic image of a mural dedicated to someone who passed. The mural isn't in a very nice place yet Delaney has made it look beautiful. She is showing graffiti from a different angle people see it as vandalism but here she shows that it is art. I Think she could have focused on the portrait more as there is too much background and too much light you loose some of the detail in the portrait. Overall I like the subject matter and the concept of the image I just think it could be more focused on the portrait.
